29 / "Residential house, early XX"

A wooden one-story house on a stone foundation was built according to the design of the Simbirsky architect P.I.Kurochkin in 1913 on M.Bazhenova's estate on Verkhnaya Naberezhnaya street (now Proletarskaya street), which runs along the edge of the Volga slope. P.I.Kurochkin not only made the project, but also, on behalf of the landlord wrote a statement and submitted the project for approval. P.I.Kurochkin was a ten's manager, he was engaged in private practice in the 1910s. According to his projects in Simbirsk, a lot of wooden profitable and residential houses were built (Krymova, Radishcheva, Krasnoarmeiskaya, Proletarskaya). The building itself was built in 1913-1914. In addition to architectural value, it is of interest in connection with the personality of N.I.Bazhenov. The owner of the house Maria Ivanovna Bazhenova was his wife Nikolai Ivanovich Bazhenov. N.I.Bazhenov (1873 - no earlier than 1918) - teacher of the Simbirsk Theological Seminary in 1899-1918, the head of the seminary's fundamental library (since 1909), the author of the book "Statistical Description of the Cathedrals , monasteries, parish and house churches of the Simbirsk Diocese according to the data of 1900 "(Simbirsk, 1903) and numerous publications in the" Simbirsk Diocesan Gazette ". This book is one of the most valuable in local history studies in the study of Orthodox churches of the Simbirsk diocese. N.I.Bazhenov was promoted to the rank of State Counselor (in 1914), had the Order of St.Anne of the 2nd degree and St.Stanislaus of the 2nd and 3rd degrees. Only at the 40th birthday of the head of the family did Bazhenov have his own home. In the layout sheet for the 2nd part of Simbirsk in 1913, a "place" on Verkhne-Naberezhnaya Street was recorded for "the wife of the outward counselor Maria Ivanovna Bazhenova". There was built the house under consideration. In the seminar documents of N.I.Bazhenov he was listed under No.19 (or 19a) for Old Crown (the second name of Verkhne-Naberezhnaya street) and was listed as acquired property of his wife. Information about the fate of the Bazhenov family after the establishment of the Soviet government in Simbirsk was not revealed. Wooden one-story house on a stone foundation-six-wall at Proletarskaya Street, 29 is located in the historical part of the city in a row of historical buildings of the second half of the 19-beginning of the 20th century.
